About

Me.

I am a Reiki coach, a writer, an editor, an artist. Recently, I began singing and writing songs along with relearning to play the piano. You can listen to my first release, “Gypsies Don’t Need Sofas,” on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music and other locations.

My voice has historically been both my biggest weakness and my greatest underplayed strength. Never one to take no for an answer, I was grounded more weeks than not as a teenager for continually questioning WHY I couldn’t go to the dance or the party or the game. Journaling became my way to release the negative pent up energy that moved through my body yet couldn’t be adequately expressed out loud and manifested as low self esteem, codependent tendencies, perfectionism, and a 15 year battle with bulimia. The path to regained health began when I discovered running and weight training, and I certified as a personal trainer.  The path to creativity appeared when I acknowledged the spirit behind the body and allowed myself the freedom to open to the magic.

In 2018 I began working with Isaac and Thorald Koren (Brothers Koren) through The Songwriter’s Journey. There, I sang solo in public for the first time since 8th grade chorus class and a traumatic 1977 audition for “How Deep Is Your Love.” — No one going through puberty can sing that song, but I “dared to suck”! My first single release, “Gypsies Don’t Need Sofas,” came to life through the songwriter’s course. I continued working with the brothers via Reclaiming Your Big Voice and other sessions and workshops. This past spring, I became a certified Your Big Voice Master Coach and I now incorporate music, toning, rhythm, and voice work into my healing practice with clients.

Writer, photographer, Reiki practioner, Beagle rescuer. I’ve moved from Virginia to California 8 times; driven cross-country 24 times. I now live in the mountains of California’s Central Coast. At my 10-year high school reunion, I won the award for Most Jobs Held Since Graduation. Two reunions later I’ve had more jobs than birthdays. I recognize there’s both some wisdom and humor in that. I’m the poster girl for “wherever you go there you are,” and I’ve learned that we don’t change unless our perspectives do. I believe that rethinking our story and rewriting the script so we are the hero is the key to recreating and reshaping our lives. I am not a victim. Neither are you.

In my life and healing practice I combine creativity with meditation, somatic awareness exercises, and the healing powers of Reiki to facilitate growth, clear physical and emotional blockages, and activate chakra energy. This allows the body to open and hold space for positive transformation.

The site. A celebration of the empowered self with emphasis on reexamining, reframing, and rewriting the personal story. There is empowerment and joy in a life that has been claimed with self-love, mindfulness, and compassion. You are your own hero.

Gypsies Don’t Need Sofas.  What I said to my niece when she got upset that I was selling our purple ultrasuede couch and moving back to L.A for the sixth time.

Expand or Contract . . . It’s Up To You.  A strong yet subtle message whispered through the mists of an Easter Sunday sunrise in Ojai, California back in 2010. After losing three close friends in 2 years to suicide, I began a deliberate exploration of residual grief and how it had shaped my life since my dad’s death in 1969.
